The main difficulty with spreadsheets is making them as customizable as the online version... I'd really like to generate the xls on the fly, taking the inputs from the online version so that it's already set for the right number of teams, categories, etc.

That's a good idea about connecting the methodology articles to the Price Guide. I'll see if I can link them some place.

"I like the idea of a spreadsheet as an “offline” Price Guide… There’s nothing that the online version does that can’t be done in a spreadsheet."

I would love that! I doubt you need the help, but I'm pretty handy (not an expert, but pretty good) with excel if you want help coding.

One other thought... When you click on price guide and go to http://www.lastplayerpicked.com/priceguide/ you may want to put something at the top of the screen with links to the articles you wrote about how the price guide works. It took some searching to find those, and this entry about customization.

Love your site, and you have something really unique in that you can edit projections AND put in keeper values to calculate for inflation... Great stuff.

The problem is that it is impossible to edit all of the keeper information when a league has more than 100 keepers.

I don't know the limits of the coding on this site, but here are two possibilities to consider:

1) Let people logon with a user id so that it saves the keeper information and you at least don't have to enter all of the data at once.

2) let users upload a spreadsheet with keeper information and stats and then have the priceguide chug on that data. (you might need to provide a downloadable spreadsheet template, to be sure all of the data is in the right fields.)

I actually like #2 better. It means I could also upload my own projection set.

Again, very, very cool site.

CHONE doesn't project saves, so the relievers are valued as if they contribute nothing to the category. This decreases their value and increases the relative value of starters. To get a better idea, you'd have to create your own saves projections.

There's something to be said, however, for looking at reliever values without factoring saves. Gives you a better idea of how valuable their contributions to the other categories are, and since projecting saves is much more a factor of role rather than skill, you're probably better off just making a seat of your pants projection in late march rather than using projection system from December/January.

Just my opinion.

If I enter a custom league, AL only and Chone the pitchers Saves column is blank. I'm not sure if the $ values are okay and it's just a display issue or if there is something more going on?

By the way, there are "Oliver" projections here

http://statspeak.net/2008/11/2009-batter-projections.html

although they're only for hitters. And I think there are some playing time issues, as I think he just used 2008 PT.

So, are there any plans to add more projections as they become available, or a feature where we can just cut & paste a set of projections in? It's cool being able to "customize" a particular projection, but doing it for the whole player population is pretty labor intensive. I suppose it might be labor intensive for you to add that feature though, too...

No, it wouldn't be easy, but it would be possible. The main problem is matching up the players in each system.

A couple of people have requested it as well, so it is something I've been considering.

Awesome site and tool. Would it be easy to add an 'average projection' combining either all, or some subset of projections you can pick?
